The act of negation makes positive statements invalid. To make things negative in Spanish, simply use no before the verb.
Look at the following example:
Hablo inglΘs. (I speak English.) |
No hablo inglΘs. (I don’t speak English.) |
Notice that to make the sentence Hablo inglΘs negative, you have to put no in front of the verb: No hablo inglΘs.
Look at another example:
Comprendo. (I understand.) |
No
comprendo. (I don’t understand.) |
The example follows the same rule: just put no in front of the verb.
